Kappa Pi Beta is An Asian-American interest fraternity established at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.

How Long Have We Been Around?

We have existed since our founding in the Spring of March 2000 on the campus of Northern Illinois University.

Our Purpose

As a fraternal organization, one of our main objectives is to bring forth a bond of brotherhood to all of our members that will stand the test of time. Along with the close relationships that are built, we also strive to promote academic excellence, cultural awareness, self awareness, service to the community, gentlemen values, and respect towards the individual and the community.


Why Should You Join a Fraternity?

College can be an excellent time to prepare for the challenges of the working world; also, it can play a vital role in the outcome of your future. College life offers many opportunities to be involved and meet many new people with similar and differing interests to your own. There are a countless number of organizations that you can join to become involved in the university. During this process, many friendships are formed. However, as your college years pass, you may find that many of the people you meet in college come and go. One of the main elements of a Greek organization that differs from other organizations is the continuing bond made between its members even after moving on from college. Becoming a part of a Greek organization can also benefit you in many ways by improving leadership skills and strengthening the individual character.


Why Kappa Pi Beta?

Of the many fraternities already out there, one may ask "What makes Kappa Pi Beta so special?". There are many things that set Kappa Pi Beta apart from other fraternities. One of the main things is our values. Many stereotypes are set upon fraternities that have been portrayed in the media. Most members of fraternities are seen as wild, irresponsible, rowdy animals whose only concerns are to drink, meet women, and party. There is a strong motive in Kappa Pi Beta to break these and other modern perceptions of the typical fraternity. One way we try to do this is by focusing on responsibility through academics. We understand that education is the main priority of college and we stress its importance on the individual. We also focus on providing service to the community, respect for the fellow man and the community, and gentlemen values. Another thing that is unique about Kappa Pi Beta is our origin. We were founded in DeKalb, Illinois which is in the Midwestern section of the nation. Although there are many fraternities here in the Midwest, most of them originated in either the west or east coast and found its way here. Therefore, the fraternities established here from the west and east still follow the values of their roots. Being founded in the Midwest, Kappa Pi Beta is one of the few fraternities that enforces the true values of the Midwest. In addition, Kappa Pi Beta emphasizes on the Asian-American culture. Of the many existing fraternities, only a handful are rooted in the Asian-American culture. Although we do not discriminate against any other race and accept those from all different cultures, one of the main goals of Kappa Pi Beta is to make others aware of the Asian-American population.
